Biography and academic profile
Dr. Amiya Kumar Dash is an Assistant Professor-II in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar. He is an accomplished academic and researcher with expertise in Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Medical Image Analysis, and Artificial Intelligence. His academic and research interests focus on developing intelligent computational techniques for the analysis and classification of medical images using modern deep learning and transfer learning approaches. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from IIIT Bhubaneswar with his doctoral research focusing on Fine-tuned of Deep Neural Networks. He obtained his M.Tech. from NIT Rourkela , where he was awarded the Silver Medal for securing the highest academic position in his branch. He completed his B.Tech. from Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Odisha. Dr. Dash aims to contribute to the development of responsible, explainable, and practically useful artificial intelligence systems, particularly for applications in healthcare and data-driven decision making. His long-term research vision is to develop robust deep learning methodologies that can address challenges associated with medical imaging, limited datasets, model generalization, and reliable automated diagnosis. As an educator, he strives to create a learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, innovation, and hands-on learning, while guiding students toward meaningful academic and professional careers in computer science and emerging technologies.
